“Skatetown, USA” is a piece in homage to my home skating rink. I began roller skating at six years old and joined the competitive artistic team in 2014. In 2020, COVID forced my home rink to shut down. Using iconography from the 80’s as well depicting my present self in beginner skates, I aimed to portray how reminiscing in the past can revitalize the emotions and memories experienced by both my younger self and previous generations of skaters, such as my parents.
